Wednesday July 8th 2015 – BIG BUDGET DAY
SAY “NO” TO CUTS TO DISABLED BENEFITS
WEAPONS OF MASS PERCUSSION
5.30PM, CASTLE LAWN, CARDIFF CITY CENTRE

You are invited to join us to say “no” to further cuts in benefits for people with disabilities. Meet at Cathays Community Centre between 4.30 and 5pm – bring pots and pans to make a BIG Noise – and we will process with our banner – NO TO DISABILITY CUTS – to the Castle Lawns.

The government’s benefit cuts are hitting disabled people hardest of all, according to a new report drawn up by a coalition of over 90 disabled people’s organisations and charities. The report highlights the precarious circumstances of many disabled people, drawing on a survey of over 4,500 respondents and a poll of more than 350 independent welfare rights advisors.

THERE WILL BE A LEAVING DO ON SATURDAY 27TH JUNE AT AROUND 7PM AT CATHAYS COMMUNITY CENTRE. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.

An iconic moment in the history of CCYCP and Cathays Community Centre, Jon Wilson (CCYCP Manager and Secretary for over 30 years) has retired.

It is difficult to put into a short news item just how much he has put into this charity, project, active youth and community centre, and indeed the lives of so many of its youth and community members, after so many years of dedication. His list of accomplishments is endless.

We intend to honour this at his leaving do on Saturday 27th June at around 7pm. All are welcome to attend.

Cathays IYP Trip to Liberty Stadium Report

A group of Cathays IYP members had a memorable trip to the Liberty Stadium in Swansea as part of the Easter holiday programme. Cardiff Metropolitan, Youth and Community Degree Student, Joseph Jones (who is undertaking his student placement at CCYCP) organised the trip as part of the Sport and Exercise programme he delivered to young adults.

The programme included a variety of sporting activities, and offered the opportunity for some individual coaching and team sports. During the second week of the Easter holidays the group set off in Cathays High School minibus and after lunch on the beach headed off to the Liberty Stadium.

Everybody enjoyed the visit and found the tour of the stadium interesting, however the icing on the cake was an appearance by Gary Monk, manager of Swansea City, who happily signed autographs and posed for photographs with the group!

See below for photos of the trip!
